Weeks 35-37 (April 1 - 21)
I feel like Aldo has grown so much these past three weeks. That is, grown in terms of his abilities. He still doesn't crawl but he now, regularly, brings himself to a standing position, practices standing and walking, he can sit up on his own (so no more turtling), he gives kisses (wet ones), he mimics what you teach him, teaches himself and, I guess, he's just generally showing a great interest in what is around him.
Aldo enjoying the early spring.
Aldo wouldn't look up at the camera, so I tried pointing the camera up at his face and this is what I got.Isn't that sweet?! G'Ma Pat has been really helping Aldo out with his naps, letting him sleep for hours on her. He slept a record 4 hours total in one day with her help. Oh, do you see the little crabs on his PJs? Aldo enjoys pulling at them, one at a time.
I so wish that I could share with you the video I took following this shot. What you see here is that Aldo rolled himself off of his play mat and 'hit the wall'. From there, he went back to his belly and lifted himself up to his hands and feet - he was trying to stand up! He got stuck in that position, looking over at me and making some squeaky noises, so I rescued him. I'm so thrilled to have it all on video.
We had another wonderful Sunday night at Auntie Heather and Uncle Johnny's house in Tahoma. It was a blast. Heather got the best shot of Aldo with an ear-to-ear grin while he practiced his standing. But here I caught Kenya (the dog) giving kisses to Aldo - who didn't appreciate it. There will be many more dog kisses in Aldo's future.
This was very likely a big mistake on my part, letting him touch the computer, but he just wanted to press the buttons sooooo badly.
Ta-Da! And for my next trick, I will escape this crib. Time to lower the mattress!!! Auntie Heather will come to the rescue on Wednesday to help me get the lowering done. Until then, no more using the crib to free up my hands.
Aldo and I had such a wonderful day today. We walked in the meadow (my condo association is part of a meadow) and "kicked" the dirt. We danced, played with new toys, skyped with the Georgia grandparents, went for a long walk and played by the Lake,. In this photo you see Aldo playing all by himself, which he did for about an hour; pulling toys out of his basket that he had forgotten he had. Such a big boy. In the background you can see the new area rug that I purchased this past week at Lowes. It's not my favorite but we needed something bigger and softer for Aldo than the play mat and it definitely gets the job done.
