First Birthday and August 2013

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY ALDO!
Common's Beach in Tahoe City, July 31, 2013

Aldo had missed his morning nap, so he took a quick 30 minute nap during the party.

AUGUST 2013

Having perfected his walking skills, Aldo is now learning to speak.  He can say 'duck', 'truck', 'trac' (for tractor), and he continues to only say 'mom' in a crisis.  He can also say 'yes' as I learned on two occasions.  The first was at 4 a.m. when, with neither of us was sleeping. I asked him rhetorically, 'Aldo, would you like to go downstairs?' and he replied, earnestly, 'Yeth'.  The second time was when he wanted to play on our steps.  I said, 'no Aldo', 'Yes?', 'no Aldo', 'Yes?, 'no Aldo, its not safe.'  (He backed down his stair).  He knows many many words even though he cannot speak them yet.  He knows ball, butterfly, shoes, outside, stroller, hungry, avocado, yogurt, water and more.

That's dirt on his face.
All clean now.

Weeks 41 to 52 (May to July 2013)

Hi everyone.  I'm sorry that it has taken so long to get back to the blog.  But we are back and I plan to post bi-monthly going forward.

 Aldo's teeth hurt.

Sally gives Aldo some needed morning cuddles before the day's playing begins.
Princess Emma Walton - Gracie and Ella dressed her up to be so pretty.

JUNE 2013

Aldo watching Baby Einstein in our hotel room, after a long day of not getting outside.  He was thrilled.  I have his excitement on video, too.

At Crater Lake, on our way to Spokane for a family 4th of July.

JULY 2013

ALDO WALKS IN EARNEST AT 11 MONTHS OF AGE.  He had been practicing for months!  But finally, one night, he just let go and walked a mile in our little condo.  I was so happy to be relieved of the back-breaking duty of being Aldo's "training wheels" (letting him hold my finger).

We celebrated early for Aldo's First Birthday, so that we could enjoy a family-filled birthday.

Bend, OR
Home sweet home.  Aldo helping with the yard work.

The Baptist Church in Tahoe City has a Parent's Night Out.  I was nervous but Aldo didn't hesitate to jump right in - and enjoy all of the fun adults and toys, not to mention the other happy kids.  They told me that they put the sticker with the kids name on the back, versus the front, because the kids are usually running away when you need to call their name.  Ha ha.
